Shale gas volumes could triple to 1.6 trillion cubic metres by 2035

30th May 2012

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the production of shale gas could be set to triple over the next 20 years if industry and government can address concerns of acceptance from the public.

The IEA has set out ‘golden rules’ which it believes may possibly lead to global shale gas production tripling between 2010 and 2035 to 1.6 trillion cubic metres.

These ‘golden rules’ intend to define a framework within which responsible alternative gas extraction should be conducted. A summary of these guidelines can be found by clicking here.
